DESIGNER - ASPEN MEDICAL PRODUCTS R&D 2006 - 2012

  • Responsible for the design and development of innovative bracing products from initial concept ideation through to production.

  • Manage teams of Designers and Engineers through the design & development process of new products.

  • Conduct testing of prototypes on a regular basis to evaluate and optimize user experience, product safety, quality, usability, product effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Work closely with Product Managers, practitioners and end users to test and validate new products.

  • Meet with practitioners and patients to clearly understand patient indications and design the most effective products.

  • Attend trade shows to meet with practitioners and help identify new product opportunities.

  • Brainstorm with Patent Attorneys to identify and define new product opportunities and secure patents.

  • Organize and participate in brainstorming sessions on a regular basis during the development of new products. 

  • Help develop the R&D team by interviewing potential hires and mentoring new designers and engineers.

  • Promote a cross-functional environment, focus on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and  encourage reduction of waste during the development of new products.

  • Experienced in materials and manufacturing of injection molded products, metals and cut and sew fabrics.

  • Have experience traveling and working closely with Asian manufacturers to clearly communicate the design of new products during initial production, and give final product approval. 

  • Manage outside resources during the new product development (NPD) process.

  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and through sketches, 2D & 3D CAD and physical prototypes.

  • Responsible for product documentation of PRD, TRD, Verification Plan & Reports, Test Protocols & Reports, etc.

  • Prepare and submit documents and product sample for reimbursement code request.

  • Research new materials and manufacturing processes, and apply them to new products where appropriate.

  • Work closely with the Marketing Department to help create product packaging, catalogues and IFUs.

  • Together with one partner, started a business to designed and manufactured handmade goods for iPad.

The Challenged Athletes Foundation believes that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life

  • Help set up for their annual triathlon in San Diego

VICE PRESIDENT of VELO ALLEGRO CYCLING CLUB

To actively support and grow the sport of cycling and contribute to our local community.

  • Together with BODs, help organize rides, club events and our annual fundraising for “Bikes for Kids” where we choose a local 3rd grade class and donate bikes to kids.

  • Responsible for the design of the club’s cycling clothing.

  • Furniture Design Scholarship Recipient.
